Solar photo-oxidation process has been proven to be an innovative technology to partially mineralize three major pharmaceuticals (carbamazepine, diclofenac and ibuprofen) to make them biodegradable. Two pilots were used: an inside one in controlled conditions to validate the model then transposed to an outside one of 400L capacity using natural UV light from the sun in real-world conditions.
